New Plymouths biggest design agency
Meet:
Shay Starrenburg
Superpowers:
Creative Ideas
Position:
Director
Shay is the fun, loyal and talented director of the Idyllic Lounge. She prides herself on her ability to woo on demand. Shay is an active woo’er. She was named woo’er of the year by Woo’ing Weekly, a popular YouTube channel founded by Shay Starrenburg that has over 13 subscribers.

Shay is famous for establishing the signature ‘Shay’ look which consists of black sequins, red glitter, big glasses and platform shoes.
Meet:
Melissa Brownlie
Superpowers:
Team Happiness
Position:
Studio Manager
Melissa (Mel) is Idyllic's beloved studio manager. Keeper of secrets, home addresses and coffee orders. Mel is as sweet as pumpkin pie and a strawberry martini. Her first initiative upon joining the team was to make wearing slippers to work (especially pink fluffy ones), an acceptable and encouraged practice.
Meet:
Sharne Teh
Superpowers:
Packaging
Position:
Head Of Creative
Sharne was the first to be recruited (basement style) into the Idyllic family, as a graphic designer. An incredibly gifted graphic designer, Sharne remains the longest-tenured employee at Idyllic, causing the rest of the team to wonder what Shay has on her. Lover of good food, coffee and childish games (in which she'll get highly competitive in) but not so much butterflies or cold weather.
Meet:
Bryleigh Norris
Superpowers:
Strategic Thinking
Position:
Head Of Marketing
Bryleigh, Idyllic's Digital Marketer, is exceptional at client training, marketing strategy and idea generation. Bryleigh is Shay's only real rival for most colourfully dressed. She’s a Swiftie, a book lover and not on good terms with gravity (clumsy). She’s somewhat willing to answer the office phone if no one else will and has agreed to dress her daughter exclusively in Idyllic branded clothing (thanks Bryleigh).
Meet:
Erin Gibson
Superpowers:
Coding
Position:
Web Developer
Our beloved web developer Erin works remotely from Whanganui which leads us to think we are not as beloved in return. Always up for a photo shoot (wink), Erin is well acquainted with web development and patience for her team. The only team member to be granted mannequin legs at our team meetings (a zoom attendance prerequisite), she lives in constant fear that one day we will set up office on her front lawn.
Meet:
Lottie Betteridge
Superpowers:
Copywriting
Position:
Digital Marketer
At [redacted] going on 87, Lottie is the team’s honorary granny. She spends most of her time buried in a spicy book or a Bob Mortimer YouTube compilation (iykyk). While she may seem harmless at first, don’t let the cardigans fool you. She’s committed to solving our client’s challenges, cracking them just like a cryptic crossword. She’s the quiet force in the room, applying sharp strategy with just a pinch of sass.
Meet:
Mae Zamora
Superpowers:
Colour Sorcerer
Position:
Designer
Mae is on our Creative Team, conjuring bold ideas for branding, websites, and all things visual by day, but when night falls? Let’s just say your gran definitely wouldn’t vibe with her metalcore playlist... Sure, she looks sweet with a book in hand or clay on the wheel, but don’t be fooled… when the sun dips, Mae flips the switch.
Meet:
Thomas Busby
Superpowers:
Makin' a Scene
Position:
Videographer / Photographer
Thomas is part of our videography team, swooping around the region with all his gadgets, flannel shirt blowing dramatically in the wind. As our chatty Cathy, he puts eveeeeryone at ease in front of the camera, with an endless supply of awful jokes (don’t say we didn’t warn you). If you ever run into him, be prepared to chat for hours about his new self-built house (he’s a millennial, so naturally, he learned on YouTube). Apparently, he also makes an outstanding chilli crisp, but we’re yet to see the proof for ourselves.
Meet:
Caitlin Manley
Superpowers:
Illustration
Position:
Designer
Caitlin tripped and fell into our studio one day, and we haven’t let her go. Her natural gifts for visuals were too good to pass up, so we absorbed her as our illustration guru and resident moon-walker. If anyone craves peanut butter or a fun penguin fact, they go straight to Caitlin’s desk.
Meet:
Jaeden Pennington
Superpowers:
Post-Production
Position:
Videographer
Jaeden is a video magician, editing mountains of footage to woo the masses. He rocks up to video shoots with Crocs on his feet and a vision in his head, along with a whirlwind of fantasy trivia to yarn your head off about. Jaeden has an uncanny hidden (though not so hidden now we’ve published it on the internet) ability to make any outfit look cool. No matter how outrageous the outfit we force him to put on, he somehow makes it look like he fell off the runway in Milan.
Meet:
Nikyla Beare
Superpowers:
Making Pancakes
Position:
Office Admin
If this place runs smoothly, it's because Nikyla made it happen. She’s officially the office junior, unofficially the keeper of snacks, supplies, and our sanity. She's always lurking, restocking the fridge and organising the chaos left in Shay’s wake. Nikyla is the behind-the-scenes MVP and we don’t know how we ever functioned without her.
Meet:
Shelley Porteous
Superpowers:
Watching The Pennies
Position:
Accounts
*Cue the music 'Money money money MONEY', and now cue Shelley, a trendier, fiesta, hipper version of her favourite daughter Shay. Shelley is Idyllic accounts gal, balance boss and yes Shay's mum. Contrary to popular belief she also has three other children who she mildly enjoys. Currently embracing her “experience life” era, Shelley is travelling around New Zealand in a caravan, pursuing her hippie dreams (we can’t confirm if she’s fully adopted all the hippie ideals, like not shaving her legs, but we’ll report back soon). Although the entire office team is grateful to always get paid on time they would like to put in a group request that when she brings in lunch for Shay she also brings in lunch for the rest of us!
